Donation of 800 sports bras from the Sweaty Betty Foundation to support females getting active.

Sweaty Betty has donated 800 sports bras (£40 each RRP) to females aged 11-18 who attend Future Youth Zone in Barking & Dagenham. This initiative supports young females to feel comfortable and confident, enabling them to get involved in all the sporting activities the Youth Zone has to offer. From the gym to boxing, the climbing wall to basketball, Future Youth Zone and Sweaty Betty Foundation will help more young females get active in Barking and Dagenham, giving them the best chance to lead happy and healthy lives.

The UEFA Women’s Euros was a great opportunity to give females in sport a platform to showcases their skill and allowed them to get the recognition they deserve. With this tournament being held in the UK and the Lionesses victory, it has shown young females that there are opportunities out there for them and encouraged them to pursue their talents and hobbies in sport.

“We are so grateful to The Sweaty Betty Foundation for gifting these amazing sports bras to our young people. We strive to keep the Youth Zone an inclusive place that allows all young people to try out different sports and train and perfect their skill. Giving young females the opportunity to have this high quality kit allows them to feel empowered to go to the gym, get on that pitch or put on those boxing gloves. As a female Sports Coordinator at Future, it is important to me that females feel included in all elements of sports throughout the Youth Zone. These sports bras will eliminate some of the barriers that females face when wanting to participate in sports and hopefully inspire inactive young females into sport.” Kyria Goodwin, Sports Coordinator at Future Youth Zone.

“The Sweaty Betty Foundation supports and encourages inactive girls aged 11-18 to get active and stay active for life. One of the biggest barriers teenage girls have to getting active is not having the right kit and feeling self-conscious about their changing bodies. At Sweaty Betty we know the difference the right kit makes to helping women feel confident and comfortable, and how good physical activity can help women feel, which is why the Sweaty Betty Foundation is so delighted to donate 800 sports bras to Future Youth Zone. Future Youth Zone is a fantastic organization doing incredible work, and we are proud to support them in empowering 800 teenage girls to find physical activity that they love, for life.” Tara Arnold, Interim Director Sweaty Betty Foundation.
