This May marked Future Youth Zone’s sixth birthday and what a memorable few years it has been!

Since opening its doors in 2019, Future Youth Zone has welcomed thousands of young people from across the borough, offering them a safe, inspiring and fun environment to explore their potential. From sports and music to cooking and creative arts, the Youth Zone has become a hub of opportunity, friendship and personal growth.

To celebrate this incredible journey, Future hosted a Community Day Birthday Celebration on Saturday 17th May, and the whole community was invited. The free event provided a huge amount of fun for all the family, with bouncy castles, arts and crafts, sports, games and loads more on offer.  It was great to see members of the community who have been friends of the Youth Zone since before we opened along with some new faces at the event. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all the things that make Future so special.

As we move on from our sixth anniversary, a heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has played a role in the success of Future Youth Zone – from our generous funders and dedicated partners, to the incredible staff, both past and present, whose passion and hard work have helped shape the lives of countless young people. Most importantly, a huge thank you goes to the young people themselves – whose energy, talent, and spirit are at the heart of everything we do.

Over the past six years, Future Youth Zone has proven what’s possible when a community comes together to invest in its youth. The support from local residents, schools, businesses and organisations continues to ensure that Future can thrive and evolve to meet the needs of the next generation. This shared commitment and determination to young people has continued despite a global pandemic, cost of living crisis as well as many other challenges and together we have ensured that young people have remained front and centre of all that we have achieved.  I am grateful to the whole community for Future Youth Zone’s development and ongoing success – thank you.

Whether you’ve been a member since day one, volunteered your time, donated, or simply cheered us on – our birthday celebration was for you.

Thanks to everyone for helping us to kick off the next chapter of Future Youth Zone in style!

Thanks to Barking and Dagenham Post for providing some space each month for me to champion young people and share my views and thoughts on the youth sector. If you’re interested in our work please feel free to get in touch via enquiries@futureyouthzone.org
